Below are a few ways teachers are using this app around our school district:
AudioBoom is a free app that allows you to record yourself for up to 10 minutes. This app is great to use in the classroom because it automatically creates a QR code and is super easy to use. This app can be used by anyone, however, and this means there is a chance that students might be subjected to inappropriate material if they are not monitored closely--you can help keep this from happening by adding a direct link to your posts page, thus bypassing the login process. You can also keep it on the "my posts" page on the device while students are recording. Below are a few ways teachers are using this app around our school district: Mrs. Martsney Williams at Honea Path Middle School had her students complete book reviews. Students liked that their voices could be heard, but that they couldn't be seen. This gave them more confidence to read their writings. Students then took the QR code and pasted it into a word document containing a picture of the book they were reviewing. These reviews were then placed around the school so that other students could scan the QR code and listen to their peer's suggestions! Mrs. Becki Vallecillo at Marshall Primary School had her students create an art project where they made paint prints of their hands. Students then had to think about their hands and what awesome things they would accomplish when they were older. After writing down their thoughts, they recorded their message, stating, "With these hands I will...". The QR codes were placed on their painted projects, and when parents came to Open House earlier this fall, they enjoyed listening to their children's future plans using the QR code scanners on the iPads and on their own phones. Ms. Jessica Bailey (MPS) and her first graders enjoyed a trip to the Belton Fire Department! Upon their return, Ms. Bailey had her students write what they saw and what they remembered learning about firemen. Students drew a picture then wrote their passage below the picture. Using AudioBoom, students read their writings aloud, and the QR code was then placed on their final products. Students really enjoyed hearing their writings come to life!
