What is it?
When is it?
Why bother?
By 2020, it is projected that there will be 1,000,000 more computing jobs than computer science students available to fill them, with 1.4 million jobs and only 400,000 students graduating with computer science degrees. Computer Science is a top-paying college degree, yet 9 out of 10 schools do not offer computer programming classes. Less than 1% of our entire US student population is enrolled in an AP Computer Science course. Of this 1%, only 15% are women and only 8% are students of color. 25 out of 50 states (ours included) do not even count computer science credits toward graduation math or science requirements! We must expose our students to this potentially lucrative career! | See these facts (and more) as an infographic at http://code.org/stats |
